What is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)?
Applied Behavior Analysis is a branch of psychology that applies the principles of reinforcement to reduce problem behaviors and increase socially-functional skills.
Our focus at ABA Stepping Stones is on helping children ages 2 through 18 years old decrease restrictive, repetitive behaviors while at the same time increasing social-communication skills. Therapy hours typically range from 10 to 25 hours per week, in one-on-one or group formats, beginning in the clinic and then generalizing to outside environments (e.g., home, community, religious, etc.).
Evidence-Based Strategies
Some of the 28 evidence-based strategies used in our ABA sessions to make problem behaviors irrelevant (antecedent), inefficient (replacement), and ineffective (consequence) include:
Antecedent
+ Sensory Stimuli Enrichment
+ Choice-Making
+ Stimulus Prompts
Replacement
+ Imitation Training
+ Social Skills Training
+ Functional Communication Training
Consequence
+ Differential Reinforcement
+ Schedules of Reinforcement
+ Response Interrupt/Redirection

What insurances do we accept?
We are currently in the process to become credentialed through and a provider for the insurance companies shown to the left.
How do I get started?
Below is an outline of our process for beginning services with your child and family.
1
Initial Request: Families submit a request for services through our website, phone call, or email.
2
Insurance Verification: In order to verify your child’s insurance information, we will collect basic demographic information (e.g., name, date of birth, insurance name, insurance number, etc.) prior to scheduling an ABA assessment date.
3
Intake Paperwork: You will be sent a link to digitally complete our intake paperwork; specifically, Background Information, Notice of Privacy Practices, Authorization for Use or Disclosure of Health Information, Consent for Electronic Communication, Declaration of Professional Practices and Procedures, and Consent for Functional Behavior Assessment.
4
Behavior Identification Assessment: The assessment process varies in duration (1-3 hours) depending on the needs of the child and types of assessments required. It is typically conducted within the clinic, with both the child and at least one parent/guardian present, by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The overall goal is to identify skill strengths/weaknesses related to social/communication abilities as well as problem behavior(s) that may be restrictive/repetitive in nature.
5
Data Analysis: The BCBA will analyze past data (e.g., school IEPs, other therapy notes), score/interpret the assessments, prepare the treatment plan, and complete required insurance paperwork. Duration: 3-5 days.
6
Consent: Meeting with parent(s)/guardian(s) to review the behavior identification assessment results and initial treatment plan. Upon obtaining all signatures and consent, treatment start date will be determined at this meeting.
